What is self reflection?

What comes to your mind when you hear this word?

Is it something that you do regularly?

Or maybe something you are curious about?

Self reflection has become super important and essential to me. Especially since I started coaching. I had to learn how to do “self reflection” right, what it is and what it is not and what’s it good for.

So, what is self reflection?

Reflection means to think about something in an objective way.

It means to pause and to take a look back in order to learn something, to take something useful, something purposeful out of it. Looking back in order to improve, to notice things that you have not noticed before. It is about gaining new insights, about seeing and discovering opportunties. About accepting what was maybe not ideal and what to say or do instead.

Self reflection is not there to be stuck in the past or to be hard on yourself or to regret on how you did things. It is not a bout working towards doing everything perfect, no.

Reflection brings the potential to learn from what has happened.

And to do this, we need to take time to look back at what has happened. Because if we never do this, we continue with the same thoughts, with the same actions.

Self reflection is something that needs to be learned. It is not easy to look at yourself from a different perspective, it is not easy to distance yourself from yourself to see new things.

During the coachings, I am there with you so you can see yourself better. I am your objective supporter, with the needed distance and the true support and empowerment. I reflect back your thoughts, your behaviour and this way we will start your self reflection process that will lead to your own learnings and insights.
